Flood Zone

It is the purpose of the Flood Zone Administrator to promote public health, safety and the general welfare of the community and to minimize public and private losses due to flood conditions while operating under the rules as set forth in the Texas Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance. The main interaction a member of the public has with this office occurs when they consider building in a flood zone. Before one builds in the flood zone a Development Permit and an OSSF Permit shall be required to ensure conformance with the provisions of this and other governing ordinances. Our Flood Zone Administrator is James Jackson.

Preferred Risk Policy for Homeowners and Renters

The National Flood Insurance Program's Preferred Risk Policy offers lower-cost protection for homes and apartments in areas of low-to-moderate flood risk.  These areas outside of known floodplains are shown as B, C, or X zones on a Flood Insurance Rate Map.
