The Environmental Health Department is responsible for several community health programs that affect many of the aspects of community life. The Department performs food service inspections, permitting and education programs in food safety. We act as Designated Representatives for the permitting and inspecting on-site sewage facilities. We operate the Code Enforcement Program in the unincorporated areas of Aransas County. We operate the Aransas County Mosquito Control Program and the Aransas County Transfer Station. We are also the local agent for the Federal Emergency Management Agency for flood plains in the county and permit activities in the flood hazard zone. The Department investigates a variety of complaints related to general public health issues and provides other public health services for area citizens.
