{"id":4188,"date":"2023-01-30T09:50:38","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T15:50:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aransascounty.org\/happenings\/?p=4188"},"modified":"2023-01-30T09:50:38","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T15:50:38","slug":"covid-19-update-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aransascounty.org\/happenings\/uncategorized\/covid-19-update-19\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>January 30, 2022- COVID-19 UPDATE FOR ARANSAS COUNTY, TEXAS<\/p>\n<p>Our community risk level is currently MEDIUM.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) reporting system as of Wednesday January 25, 2023, Aransas County has experienced a total of 4088 COVID-19 confirmed cases since the beginning of the recording process, 1379 probable cases and 97 fatalities.<\/p>\n<p>The Bivalent boosters are available at pharmacies and at Allegiance EMS on Mondays. The updated (bivalent) boosters are called \u201cbivalent\u201d because they protect against both the original virus that causes COVID-19 and the Omicron variant BA.4 and BA.5. Previous boosters are called \u201cmonovalent\u201d because they were designed to protect against the original virus that causes COVID-19. They also provide some protection against Omicron, but not as much as the updated (bivalent) boosters.<br \/>\nCDC recommends everyone stay up to date with Covid 19 vaccines for their age group:<br \/>\nChildren and teens age 6 months \u2013 17 years and Aduts ages 18 and older.  <\/p>\n<p>Covid 19 vaccines and boosters are available at all pharmacies in Rockport and at Allegiance EMS, 400 Enterprise Blvd #B, Rockport, TX, every Monday from 10am \u2013 2pm. <\/p>\n<p>Recommended actions based on current risk level:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tStay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.<br \/>\n\u2022\tGet tested if you have symptoms.<br \/>\n\u2022\tIf you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions. You may choose to wear a mask at any time as an additional precaution to protect yourself and others<br \/>\nYou may be eligible to receive at home COVID-19 test kits free of charge.  Visit www.covidtests.gov for more information.<br \/>\nIf you have questions or are in immediate need of a test, call Aransas County Medical Services, Inc. (ACMSI) at (512) 290-3036.
