COVID-19 update

January 30, 2022- COVID-19 UPDATE FOR ARANSAS COUNTY, TEXAS

Our community risk level is currently MEDIUM.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) reporting system as of Wednesday January 25, 2023, Aransas County has experienced a total of 4088 COVID-19 confirmed cases since the beginning of the recording process, 1379 probable cases and 97 fatalities.

The Bivalent boosters are available at pharmacies and at Allegiance EMS on Mondays. The updated (bivalent) boosters are called “bivalent” because they protect against both the original virus that causes COVID-19 and the Omicron variant BA.4 and BA.5. Previous boosters are called “monovalent” because they were designed to protect against the original virus that causes COVID-19. They also provide some protection against Omicron, but not as much as the updated (bivalent) boosters.
CDC recommends everyone stay up to date with Covid 19 vaccines for their age group:
Children and teens age 6 months – 17 years and Aduts ages 18 and older.
